The person behind the work

Intelligence analysis. Web development. Applied AI.

About Dustin

Building serious, practical AI work here at home.

Dustin Lifford is an intelligence analyst and AI consultant based in Kingsport, Tennessee. He founded Tri-Cities AI Lab to bring serious, practical AI work to businesses across Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. It’s the kind of work that actually changes how a company operates, not the kind that ends up as a slide in a board deck.

His career has run on a single throughline: making complex information useful. Twenty-plus years in web development gave him fluency in the systems businesses actually run on: WordPress, WooCommerce, schema, custom integrations, the unglamorous plumbing that has to work. A move into open-source intelligence at Barrister Intelligence sharpened the analytical side, where he produces corporate structure reports, asset-tracing work, and litigation support deliverables for law firms that need a documented, defensible product instead of a Google search. AI tied the two together: the same rigor applied to a different toolset, with the same standard for what counts as finished work.

At Six Rivers Media, he serves as Director of Web Development and Services, supporting digital operations across a portfolio of regional news properties. Through Tri-Cities AI Lab, he works directly with SMBs, professional services firms, and regional organizations, translating modern AI from a marketing pitch into a tool that saves hours, reduces cost, and creates real competitive advantage at the local level.

What ties it all together is precision. Whether he's writing schema markup, building a forensic chain of custody, or architecting a multi-agent AI workflow, the details matter and he treats them like they do.

Background

Three disciplines, one standard.

01

Intelligence Analysis

Open-source intelligence work at Barrister Intelligence: corporate structure reports, asset tracing, and litigation support for law firms that need work product that holds up under scrutiny. The discipline is built around turning ambiguous, incomplete information into conclusions that can be documented and defended.

That mindset carries directly into AI strategy: the goal is not a confident-sounding answer, it's a defensible one. No recommendation without reasoning. No advice shaped by an agenda.

Web Development

Twenty-plus years building for the web, from early-generation tools through modern frameworks and platforms. Director of Web Development and Services at Six Rivers Media, overseeing digital operations across a portfolio of regional news properties.

That depth means fluency in how businesses actually run digitally, not in theory, but in production. The plumbing, the integrations, the things that have to work reliably at scale.

03

Applied AI

AI as a practical tool, not a marketing pitch. Strategy engagements, automation systems, custom AI applications, and document intelligence, built for regional businesses that need real results, not demos.

The analysis background sets the bar: the same standards that apply to intelligence work apply here. The system has to be right, not just impressive. The recommendation has to hold up, not just sound good.

What ties it together

Precision. Every time.

Schema markup, a forensic chain of custody, a multi-agent AI workflow, the details matter and they get treated like they do. That's not a positioning statement. It's the standard the work has always been held to.

Intelligence analysis taught a particular discipline: you can't deliver a product that won't hold up under scrutiny. Every claim needs a source. Every recommendation needs reasoning. Every gap needs to be acknowledged, not papered over. That standard doesn't change when the work shifts from corporate research to AI consulting.

The Tri-Cities region deserves the same quality of work that businesses in Nashville or Charlotte get from larger firms. Done by someone who actually knows the local market, can meet in person, and answers the phone. That's what Tri-Cities AI Lab is built to provide.
